COVID-19: PCR and vaccination pass no longer required to enter Morocco

The Office National des Aéroports du Maroc (ONDA) announced in Rabat on September 30, 2022 that the PCR and the vaccination pass are no longer mandatory to enter Morocco.

This decision is effective from September 30.

“According to the decision taken by the Moroccan authorities on September 30, 2022, PCR tests or vaccination books are no longer required to enter the Moroccan territory. Only the passenger health form must be duly completed,” ONDA said in a tweet.

This decision comes in the context of a decrease in the number of cases of COVID-19. Today, Morocco has confirmed 33 new infections and 1 death.

Active cases are at their lowest level compared to previous months. Only 151 cases of COVID-19 are active.

Morocco has again renewed its state of emergency. This measure allows authorities to update restrictions based on the epidemiological situation.

Morocco announced the state of emergency in March 2020, when the pandemic broke out in the North African country.

Since it began, Morocco has recorded 1,264,945 cases, including 16,278 deaths, and 1,248,549 recoveries.

State of emergency extended in Morocco :

In late September, the Moroccan government again decided to extend the state of health emergency for another month to address the coronavirus.

On December 21, the government announced the imposition of a state of health emergency for a period of three weeks. The aim was to contain the spread of the pandemic, and the decision has since been extended before it expires.

The Presidency of the Government said in a statement, issued after its weekly meeting, that the Governing Council has approved the extension of the state of health emergency throughout the country until October 31.

Indeed, under the state of health emergency, the government can take exceptional measures to limit the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

On November 9, 2021, the Moroccan government decided to lift the night-time curfew throughout the country, following the improvement of the epidemiological situation in the Kingdom.

Winter vaccination campaign: current status of Covid-19 in Morocco
